What sort of people holiday in the Son Matias?
Since 1984 we have catered mainly to the British and Irish markets, and from 2001 we became an “adults only” hotel. We do not accept bookings for children under 16 years of age. Hence our typical guests are couples and groups of friends.
Why adults only?
We decided to change to an adults only hotel from feedback received from repeat guests and for the simple reason of not having enough space for a separate children’s play area, dining room, kiddies club etc., that most families with young children require.
Is the Son Matias suitable for disabled visitors?
We are not especially equipped for disabled visitors, however the fact that the ground floor (reception, pool, bar, restaurant) and the entrance and exit to the resort and beach are all on one level with no steps means we do have many disabled guests visiting. We also have a chair lift and steps into the pool and handrails into the Jacuzzi. We have three junior suites adapted for disabled use which have a wet room with grab rails and can be fitted with a specially adapted shower chair if necessary. The door to the bathroom is a wide sliding door to facilitate the passage of a wheelchair. All installations/fittings in these adapted rooms, including toilet, comply with the current regulations on disabled facilities.
What sort of food is served?
Although we cater mainly to the British/Irish market, you will find that apart from a wide selection of traditional British dishes, we also have a range of Mediterranean and Mallorcan cuisine. We also have a Themed Night and a Gala Night once per week.
Does the staff speak English?
Some of our staff are British, and all reception, bar/restaurant, entertainment staff speak English (some better than others!)
Do we have to pack everything but the kitchen sink?
We realize you have a limited baggage allowance and we have provided the following to save space in your case; pool towels, iron and ironing board facilities, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. We aim to make your stay as stress-free and relaxing as possible.
Eco Tax (Tourist Tax)
When booking direct with the hotel, please bear in mind that although this amount is initially included in the total cost of your reservation, the Balearic Government may revise this charge on a yearly basis. In this case you may still have part of the tax to pay after arrival.
Bookings not made directly with the hotel will have the full amount to pay after arrival.
Cancellations and Amendments
It is important to note that any amendments or cancellations to bookings will incur a 35 euros administration fee. For cancellations, this fee is in addition to the existing cancellation policy as stated on your accommodation voucher.
ON LINE BOOKING - If you need to cancel your reservation, a cancellation fee will be incurred. This fee will depend on the amount of notice given to the hotel before your reserved date of arrival as indicated below.*
DIRECT BOOKINGS - Charge of initial deposit paid.
No refunds will be given should you curtail your stay, should you not arrive on the date according to your confirmed booking or for cancellations made after your arrival date.

Is it posible to book 3 people in a room?
Due to refurbishment during Winter 2017 please note from 2018 it will no longer be possible to book 3 people in a TWIN room.
Maximum occupancy in this room type will be 2 people ONLY.
Our Junior Suites however WILL accommodate up to 3 people.
Bear in mind that Junior Suites can ONLY be booked directly with the hotel either via our website www.matiasbeach.com or by calling us on 0034 971 681550.
It is NOT possible to book a Junior Suite with TUI Holidays, nor upgrade with the hotel after having booked with TUI.
